At one point I wanted a Vive… but not anymore. I ended up buying this headset as a compromise. I wanted to get a Vive and my wife said that was too expensive. So, just to get my foot in the door on VR and prove that it was the future to my wife I ended up getting this blue thing from Acer.Wow. Just wow. This headset exceeded my expectations and I have zero regrets about not getting the Vive.First off, the headset is light and comfortable to wear. The controllers don’t have a smooth and polished feel but are more than adequate. The cord is sufficiently long so that I can use it with my desktop or laptop without issue. I have eyes that are fairly far apart and have no issues with that problem that I discovered using a mobile VR solution. Physically it feels well made and pretty far from the garbage Acer products you find at Walmart in the laptop section.Actually, this is a great portable solution. Good headset I have an HTC Vive. It isn’t useable with WMR, so I bought this Acer headset. It is lighter, an advantage.Tracking the controllers uses sensors in the front of the headset, so motion behind your head is not tracked. Annoying in some games – compensate by turning head sideways, so target is in periphery.Display quality is good but not as good as the HTC. I wear glasses and they get pressed against nose bridge and cheeks. If you want to use Cortana, you will need to run a microphone cable to your sound card.In all, a good buy.

The quality is much higher than the cost would suggest. I’ve had the HTC Vive since launch and have used the Oculus several times but I wanted to try out one of the new less expensive Windows Headsets. While this doesn’t live up to the Vive in every way, it absolutely shines in it’s own way.Pros:-The pixel density is noticably higher than the vive. This is a mixture of the higher resolution panels but also the smaller FOV, which I’ll touch on more later.-The Windows environment is very nice and intuitive. I’d say it’s more user friendly than Vive or Oculus. You just grab the headset and put it on and everything starts up automatically.-The headset is simple to put on and get comfortable.-The lenses seem to have a much larger “sweet spot” compared to the Vive and Oculus headsets. I can focus easily and can look around with my eyes while still having a clear, focused image.Cons:-The controllers lose tracking quite a bit, but only when out of sight. This is noticeable when…
