Awesome Product! READ THIS FOR DIRECTIONS ON OVERHEATING! Got it free as a Best Buy promo deal when I switched cell networks and upgrading my old Galaxy S5 to an S7. Short and simple, this is an amazing product and it shows where technology is heading in the future.Pros:Great visibility, really immerses you in the environmentTons of free pictures and videos from various companies (Samsung, Occulus, HTC, Facebook, NBC etc)Surprisingly comfortable to wear. Watched Capt America and its like being in an imax theater. No physical issues.Easy to use touchpad and directional buttons on side of unit. Pretty fluid.Games are awesome (Try Tactera or EndSpace)Since your phone is the primary hardware, you can connect to any BT audio source. (Can create minor overheating however).Has a charger on bottom to plug in to power source so your phone stay’s charged.Cons:Drains your phones batteries quick if not plugged inAfter a while, my eyes tend to strain as it can be like looking…

Warning: Software will not read from SD card, downloads are 20 GB each. The Gear VR is pretty amazing, especially for the price compared to the Vive and Rift. However there’s a HUGE flaw in the design unrelated to the hardware, but rather the occulus app that powers all the cool VR stuff. The app will refuse to do anything from an SD card; everything has to be installed and stored on the internal storage. For many folks, that’s 32 gigabytes. Many of the VR experiences are twenty gigabytes, EACH. That means you can download ONE VR experience to your phone at a time, no matter how big your SD card storage. Samsung says they are “aware” of the problem, but at this point it’s a design choice to “prevent piracy.” Adapative storage will not work: the app will refuse to read from the card.Fantastic product, if you have some time and isolation to kill then watching movies in VR is 10x better than watching them on your phone. Games are not quite “there” in terms of the technology, and they’ll overheat your phone quickly, so this…

Plastic, flimsy, too limited, too early in the development of VR to be a great form of travel entertainment. A basic, limited, but essentially workable product from Samsung – just don’t get sucked into paying Officeworks prices for it, as I bought one for half what they were charging from Amazon. No Aussie electrics required, so the same product can be bought from anywhere.Firstly, the VR experience is something almost amazing when you first see it, but you soon realise it is all, at this stage, in its absolute infancy. Animation and cgi have yet to be replaced by real entertainment in this medium and the sound quality of the few ‘specials’ I have tried so far is quite poor, even when using my usually amazing Sennheiser hang-over-ear pieces. The way my Samsung S7 fits into the VR headset was somewhat problematic. At first it looked too short, as if it could not fit in at all in a way that would be secure. Then I saw (no instructions to tell you) that the way too plastic mounts into which it should just ‘click’, are actually movable. At first you don’t want to push too hard,…
